The Yale Club of the Hudson Valley Attends Reading of “Menafee”

The Hudson Valley Yale Club attended a New York Stage and Film and Bardavon Presents reading of the play "Menafee," based on the life of Yale University employee Corey Menafee, who was there with his father and daughter. Pulitzer-winning playwright Quiara Alegría Hudes ‘99, who wrote In The Heights with Lin-Manuel Miranda, is the writer and a character in the play based on IRL events at the then-Calhoun College dining hall in 2016. Miranda was in the audience and posed for pix with some of the club. Also in attendance were: HVYC co-presidents Jen V. Gassenheimer ‘02 and Maria Ricapito ‘86, Janet Goodman ‘86, David Yaffe-Bellany ‘19 (reporter who broke the initial news story), Luis Perez, MDiv ‘01. Stephen Roberts YLS ‘84, Speed Weed ‘93, Tara Casaregola ‘84, and Shannon Csorny ‘15, YDS ‘21.
